DuPont™ Tyvek® Recycling Program in Germany

As a founding member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, DuPont has been a sustainability leader for decades and committed to using a science-based approach to our innovations and our goals. DuPont™ Tyvek® products extend our commitment to sustainability through their unique properties and performance characteristics – light weight, water resistant and durable. Made with 100% HDPE, Tyvek® is readily recyclable for its second life.

As part of DuPont™ Tyvek® sustainability efforts, we have enabled Tyvek® recycle program in Germany through leveraging external partner’s (SRK - Sobernheimer Rohstoff-Kontor GmbH) capacity with details as follows:

  1. Used Tyvek® accepted for recycling
    • Non-printed Tyvek®
    • Printed Tyvek®
    • Tyvek® with infectious substances, biological products, cultures, patient specimens and regulated medical waste will not be accepted.
  2. For any shipments of used Tyvek®, please contact Sobernheimer Rohstoff-Kontor GmbH by phone on+49 1776556296 or e-mail [email protected] to confirm delivery arrangements.
  3. Please agree with SRK on the shipping method which ideally should be the following:
    • Separate the white Tyvek® and the printed Tyvek®, pack them into separate batches and send the address below:
    • Sobernheimer Rohstoff-Kontor GmbH Industriepark Pferdsfeld, Tyvek Recycling Building 23455566, Bad Sobernheim / Germany
  4. Minimum required quantity for recycling
    • Batches need to be as fragmented as possible. A minimum of 50 kg per single batch is needed to initiate recycling process. Small amounts should not be sent in paper or cardboard packaging. LDPE film or Tyvek® would be the preferred packaging. In total a minimum of 400 kg should be assembled
  5. SRK’s recycling operation will coordinate at their conversion facility where they stream the printed and non-printed Tyvek® ready to enter the program
  6. SRK’s will recycle both the white Tyvek® and printed Tyvek® and use as secondary raw material. The material is shredded, agglomerated and grinded.
