Tyvek® Trifecta™ at a Major Hotel’s Expansion Project
With the continued return to normal levels of business travel, hotels and other hospitality businesses are increasingly looking to expand their sites. TKS, a leading general contractor specializing in complex branded hotel refurbishments was tasked with a major hotel expansion project in Coventry, England. TKS, which is known for turning internationally renowned architects’ and designers’ visions into a reality, primarily provides its services in the form of turnkey solutions.
With new regulations requiring more stringent levels of fire resistance, TKS turned to their partners at the DuPont Building Knowledge centre for solutions. The recent innovation from DuPont, Tyvek® Trifecta™, combines a unique set of features that include its non-combustible nature, water and air resistance, and high breathability, making it an ideal solution for the exterior of the hotel’s expansion project. TKS recognized that Tyvek® Trifecta™ had all the properties required for the job the product is certified as class A2- s1, d0 on reaction to fire, providing critical protection.
Tyvek® specialists visited the site to assist the installation team with a ‘toolbox talk’ on the best practice of membrane application, and followed up over the course of a couple weeks to ensure that the installation fulfilled the requirements of the building regulations. The Tyvek® Trifecta™ system includes DuPont™ AirGuard® A2 FR System Tape for sealing of laps and penetrations, ensuring the integrity of the total system and compliance with the EN 13501-1 fire performance standard. By using Tyvek® Trifecta™, TKS was able to meet new and stricter regulations for fire resistance while setting the foundation to keep occupants, staff, and guests safer from potential fire risks.
Tyvek® Trifecta™ provided a long-term protection solution exceeding construction regulation and building standards, creating peace of mind for building designers, contractors, owners, and occupants alike. With its easy and time-effective installation and wider width, contractors benefited from quicker and more effective installations. In the end, TKS was able to turn the client’s vision of safe space into reality while ensuring the comfort and confidence of the hotel’s occupants.
